Business History
The National Group is an independently owned commercial print communications company. The business was established in 1972 on the campus of Purdue University, West Lafayette, as a small copy shop under the name Copy Print Shop to serve the needs of students and small organizations. A thriving industry in a growing town meant our services and clients grew quickly. Today we tailor our services to meet the needs of small, medium and large businesses in our community, as well as the many organizations within Purdue University.
Business Focus
The National Group covers nearly all print-related items when it comes to putting ink or toner on paper. From project inception, we consult with clients and offer complete design and prepress services. Anyone who buys printing knows the cost can add up over a period of time. Our focus is to ensure our clients are getting a return on their printing dollars by increasing sales, productivity, top of mind awareness, customer loyalty, workplace safety and anything else they need to communicate.
Business Strengths
Our reputation has been built on quality products and fast turnaround times. We accomplish this through continued investments in new technology and ongoing training of our staff. We are known by our clients as the place to go for exceptional print communication services from design to mailing. We are one of the largest facilities in our market to accommodate design work, commercial printing, digital printing, finishing and mailing. We handle everything in-house, which gives us the most control over quality and turnaround times.
Employees and Personal Information
Our staff consists of 24 full time employees. We have five staff members in sales, four in prepress, 14 in production (includes pressroom, digital room, mail room, quality control, finishing and delivery) and one in administrative. Our 23 employees have a combined 296 years of experience in our industry. Our most tenured employee has been with our company for 24 years.
Recent Changes, Future Plans
Our name change from Copy Print Shop to The National Group will bring about great change, however, our dedicated staff, “small business” corporate culture and focus on the client will remain the same. A move to a larger facility will allow us to accommodate even larger, more detailed jobs and give us room for future growth and expansion of our services. We have relocate to 627 S. Earl Ave., one block south of our current location. Additional production equipment has also been added to help us to improve on our already quick turnaround times.
