Adecco International

Adia SA was founded in 1957 by Mr. Henri Lavanchy in Lausanne, Switzerland. During the first years, Adia grew rapidly in Switzerland and throughout Europe. It later expanded to Asia, Australia, and the United States. In April of 1994, the International Corporate Headquarters move to Redwood City, California, under the direction of John Bowmer, then CEO of Adia and now CEO of Adecco; The Employment People. Adia merged with Ecco in August of 1996. Adecco currently has 2,400 offices in 40 countries. Every day, Adecco places more than 250,000 associates and we anticipate that annual revenues in 1997 will be over $6 billion.

Adecco in the United States

In 1972, Adia's U.S. world headquarters was established in Palo Alto, California. The company started with six offices, then expanded to 100 offices by 1982, and now has more than 700 offices in 39 states. One hundred and twenty-four of Adecco's offices are independently owned and operated franchises that benefit from the programs and reputation of the Adecco network. (We are a franchise; locally owned and operate). Adecco supplies personnel in several skill areas including secretarial, clerical, light industrial, accounting, data processing, word processing, technical., banking and financial services. Adecco is a publicly held company listed under NASDAQ:Adecco. In August of 1996, Debbie Pond was named President of the North American Operations. In 1996, the company's US revenues were over $1 billion, and we anticipate that we will reach our goal of $2 billion in 1997.
